On 5 February the Library was visited by a group of staff from the Cabinet Office, including the Permanent Secretary and First Parliamentary Counsel, Richard Heaton. After a short tour of the Library and conservation studio, Mr Heaton presented the Library with a copy of a rare edition of the Book of Common Prayer (Oxford, 1872), which has been in the library of the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel. The gift was accepted by the Librarian and Archivist, Giles Mandelbrote. Lambeth Palace Library has one of the largest collections in the world of editions of the Book of Common Prayer, not just in English but also in a wide variety of languages from Arabic to Zande. This generous gift will be a valuable addition to it.
